Virtual Private Server TOS
1. Usage
You are free to do whatever you like with your virtual private server, as long as you stay within the TOS and not using it for abusive purposes. Some of the more common usages that virtual private servers are used for are; Web hosting, application development, streaming media (Audio / Video) and setting the server up for monitoring.
2. Security
All OpenVZ and KVM virtual servers are unmanaged. So it is up to you to make sure that you have taken the proper security measures to protect your digital property as well as ours. Some recommendations for adding additional security to your server are:
- Install and configure a Firewall
- Block all ports that you are not actively using
- SSH - Disable root login
- SSH - Change the default ssh port
- Change your Server login password at least every 90 days
- Regular Log monitoring
If you are not sure where to start here, please feel free to submit a Support Ticket requesting our Security Hardening Service and we will be glad to help you out!
3. Abuse
We have a Zero Tolerance policy here at iWebSource. If for any of the following reasons you get an Email from us with the Subject of "Reason Requested". You have 24 hours to respond to that email with an explanation, to let us know what the problem might be. If your actions are legitimate and legal, then you have nothing to worry about but if no response is given with 24 hours, your VPS will be suspended until further notice.
If you are caught abusing your VPS Service, all payments are non-refundable and your service will be terminated.
Reasons for Suspension / Termination :
- Malicious Scripts
- Scripts used specifically for straining CPU and I/O
- UDP Port Flooding
- Email Spamming
Our virtual private servers offer an equal share of CPU Cores to all accounts sharing the hardware node. Should we see higher than normal CPU usage calculated by the number of CPU Cores your VPS has over a 5 hour period, then you may receive an Email from us with the Subject of "Reason Requested". You have 24 hours to respond to that email with an explanation, to let us know what the problem might be.
An extreme example of this would be a 4 CPU Core VPS causing the CPU load on the hardware node to reach over 30.0 for at least 2 hours. iWebSource reserves the right to suspend, without prior notice, any VPS account that is causing the main hardware node to crash.
If you have any concerns or questions please feel free to contact us.
